Basic Sampling

The course's main goal is to equip students with the necessary skills to work as a sampler both underground and in opencast mines. On completion of the course students will have a fundamental understanding of mine sampling and tasks needed by an assistant. The student will also be in a position to write and pass the Basic Sampling exam.

Course Description

Students will be guided to use the correct tools and equipment with the latest technology available. Students will be taught to determine the correct dip and strike of a plane of a reef orebody. Students will gain adequate knowledge of mine sampling and features and their characteristics. Collecting of proper sampling content at the face of the workings through the usage of correct measuring equipment.
